Bridges
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
What a fantastic end to the term we had today with our STEM day all about bridges! The children worked hard all day, learning about famous bridges, researching ways to build strong structures, practising using the resources we were allowed to use to decide on a plan of action, then finally, building a bridge in groups - it's not an easy job being an engineer and we had a few struggles but overall, there were some fab bridges! Well done, everyone, and have a Happy Easter!
Plants
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
This week, we finished our science topic, Plants. Havin talked about plants and trees for the last few weeks, we had a go at dissecting a real plant to look for the parts we have been learning about - the roots, stem, leaves, flower, petals and pollen. It was messy but fun!
Mass in Maths
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
This week we have been working on mass in maths...which is quite a tricky thing to say, never mind do! But the Year 1s have done a super job, practising using scales and working out if things are heavier or lighter.
World Book Day!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
Year 1 had a lovely bit of chill-out time during World Book Day yesterday, sitting with a Year 4 child, who read to them a book of their choice and a book of the Year 4 child's choice. There were some lovely moments watching the Year 1s' enthusiasm and enjoyment of the stories.
Being Beebots!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog
We had fun in Year 1 yesterday being Beebots! Our topic in Computing this half term is based on programming and we've been looking at how to give and follow short, clear instructions, not just to our little robots but to each other! There were lots of bossy 'Move', 'Turn!' and 'Go!' instructions flying round class and lots of smiley robots!
