Adel St John The Baptist

Welcome

Headteacher's Welcome

On behalf of the staff and governors, I would like to offer you a very warm welcome to our vibrant school community here at Adel St. John the Baptist C of E (VA) Primary School.

Our vision is simple:  to love, serve, support and succeed.  This vision is rooted in the new commandment given by Jesus to his disciples to ‘love one another, as I have loved you’ (John 13:34).

At Adel St John the Baptist Primary School love is at the heart of everything we do – our shared loving service of one another provides support for all to reach their full potential.  In our recent SIAMS Inspection (June 2022) it was reported that:

‘As a result of this vision rooted in love, nurturing relationships within the school community are a key strength. Pupils behave with kindness towards each other. New pupils are supported individually to become part of a warm and welcoming school family.’

We are committed to ensuring every child succeeds through offering a  broad and balanced knowledge-rich curriculum that is underpinned by our deeply Christian ethos.  Children’s achievements, attitudes and well-being matter and we offer them the opportunity to discover their gifts and talents given to them by God and experience life in all its fullness.

Spirituality is at the heart of our curriculum. It is a connection to something that is bigger than ourselves. It is about awe and wonder, asking ultimate questions and being inspired to look beyond ourselves and serve and care for others and the world.

As an inclusive school, we welcome children of all faiths and those of no faith.

Our partnership with parents and carers is important, as we work together to enrich our children’s lives academically, spiritually and socially.

Adel St John the Baptist C of E VA Primary School serves children from the school year in which they are five years old, up to the age of eleven. We are a one-form entry primary with a pupil admission number of 30.  The number of pupils on roll is 210.   We work closely with the schools locally as an active member of the Northwest Family of Schools group and as an associated partner of the Leeds Northwest Education Trust.

As a Church School, we have strong partnerships with Leeds Diocese, local Church schools and with Adel Church.  We visit Adel Church for Harvest, Advent, Easter and the nativity of St. John the Baptist and welcome Reverend Alison to lead collective worship once a week. We aim to reflect Christian values in the everyday life of the school.

We offer wraparound care for those parents and carers who need an extension to the school day.  The breakfast club opens at 7.30am and the after-school club closes at 6.00pm.  There is a charge for this service and more information, including how to book a place, can be found on our out of school club page.

I hope that you will find our website interesting and informative and that it gives you a flavour of life at Adel St John Primary School. If you are a prospective parent/carer please contact us to arrange a visit to see our wonderful school in action. We look forward to meeting you.

School Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for our wonderful school and all the excellent learning we do here.

Thank you for all the staff and the help they give us.

Forgive us for the times when we don’t do things right, as we forgive others too.

Help us to keep our school rules and to respect everyone and everything in the world around us.

Help us to treat others the way we want to be treated ourselves.

Lord, please accept our prayer.

Amen.
