Practical maths
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
This week in maths we have been learning about mass- comparing, ordering and equivalent weights. We used Base 10 to find different ways of making 1kg which we find really helpful to support our learning.
World Book Day
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
Yesterday we celebrated world book day. We had a fantastic day where we enjoyed a secret mission of creating a book cover for our classroom door, discussing our favourite stories and books, as well as creating a chapter for our ASJ story. Thank you for all your efforts with the children’s costumes, they all looked amazing!
Herd Farm
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
This week we had a wonderful trip to Herd Farm as part of our topic on the Stone Age. The children took part in spear throwing, exploring a round house, learning about different historic artefacts used by people during the Stone Age and they also learnt how to light a fire using flint. The children have now been writing a persuasive letter in English in order to persuade other schools to visit this exciting local, educational place. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped us during the morning. It was a cold one!
Water Safety Week
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
Just a reminder that it is ‘Water Safety Week’ at swimming this week. The children are to come in their swim wear as usual, but please send them with a pair of pyjamas/shorts and T-shirt in a separate carrier. It is really important that they have a plastic carrier with them to put their pyjamas in after. Thank you.
We met a geologist!
Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 3 Class Blog
Hi Friday, we had a special Zoom call with a geologist who is Thomas’ grandma. She came live to us from Belgium! We learnt all about Brimham rocks, how the world changed over time and about tectonic plates. The children also had lots of questions to ask her at the end– we could have been there all day as the children were really intrigued and inspired by her talk. We are really grateful to Thomas’s grandma for giving up her time and supporting our learning on rocks and soil in science.
