Our Weather Tree

Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog

As part of our science learning, Year 1 have worked together to create a Weather Tree to record the weather over the whole year. The children thought of lots of different types of weather, devised a key to help us record them, and used their cutting skills to make leaves for the Weather Tree.

Florence and germ free hands

Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog

As part of learning about Florence Nightingale, Year 1 have been finding out how Florence made sure everything in Victorian hospitals was clean including the doctor's and nurses hands to stop the spread of germs. Year 1 enjoyed cleaning some germ ridden hands they had created and recognised that it took a lot of soap and water to get them totally clean. Super learning Year 1!

Super Geography Skills

Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog

Year 1 have been using the atlas for the first time to locate the place of Florence Nightingale's birth. They are all evidently going to be super geographer's as they all found Italy with ease. Well done Year 1!

Doctor's surgery Role Play

Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog

Year 1 have been enjoying using the doctor's surgery role play area.

Observation Drawing in Year 1

Peter Dalrymple (PDalrymple) on: Year 1 Class Blog

Year 1 worked so carefully this afternoon doing observation drawing of fruits and vegetables. They observed the fruits and vegetables using magnifying glasses before sketching them in pencil and then experimenting with oil pastels. We also discussed what the difference is between a fruit and a vegetable!
