I am currently the Chair of Governors and have been a parent governor. My three sons all attended Adel St John. Our school is a fantastic place for children to learn and mature into young people moving on into high school. I want to continue to be part of helping the school community achieve the best for our children.

My wife and I have our own business in the childcare sector in Leeds.

I am a member of the Adel Neighbourhood Forum with a particular interest in securing the best education for our young people.

Outside of school my interests are motor cycling and travel.

I am a qualified accountant and worked in a senior financial role with Leeds City Council for 31 years before leaving that post in 2015. I work now as a non-Executive Director with a NHS Foundation Trust.  I was elected as a Parent Governor in 2008 when my son was in year 2 and when my son moved on to High School, I became a Foundation Governor in 2012.  I took up the position of Vice Chair in October 2015 and I am also currently a member of the Resources Sub Committee.

I want to use my skills and knowledge to help the school do the best it can for its young learners.

As Rector of the Parish of Adel I am a Foundation Governor, ex officio. Prior to becoming a Minister in the Church of England I had a career of over twenty years in the food manufacturing industry, holding various senior technical management roles. In my church role I visit the school on a regular basis, leading acts of Collective Worship, and also welcome the school into the church for services and visits at various times of the year. As a governor I am currently Chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee and a member of the Resources Committee. I want to use my skills and knowledge to help the school to meet the needs of all our learners through its distinctive Christian character.

I am a local Councillor in the Adel & Wharfedale Ward and have been a Governor at Adel St. John’s for 9 years. I currently chair the Pupil Support committee which is set up to look after children who need extra help and to ensure they make good progress through school with our input. I want to see the school continue its excellent teaching and outstanding commitment to learning. I am very proud of what the school does in the community and its links with the church and many other groups.

I live in Adel with my wife, son and daughter. I’m originally from Middlesbrough but I moved to Leeds 18 years ago to study Engineering at the University and I loved Leeds so much I never left. My family and my job keep me very busy but I also like to spend a lot of time with Scouting. I’ve been a Scout Leader in Headingley since I moved to Leeds and I’m currently one of the Assistant Scout Leaders at St Chad’s.

During my time as a Scout Leader I’ve learned that helping children to develop both academically and also as rounded individuals is incredibly rewarding so I’m hoping that I can duplicate some of that good work within the school.

Jill Holloway

Foundation Governor

Diocese

Hello, I am Jill Holloway, a new Foundation Governor, which means I am connected to Adel Church. I have always been involved with young children`s learning, mostly as an Infant teacher, a job I loved. After retirement I started taking workshops for children at a local museum . I also enjoy singing in a ladies choir. For a short while I was a pupil myself, at the old Adel Church school on Church Lane and I am delighted that my granddaughter now attends Adel St John the Baptist school.

I am pleased to be involved with what is such a happy, successful and welcoming school.

I am a qualified chartered accountant bringing not only my financial background but a broad range of experience from 20 years working in senior finance roles within organisations prior to establishing my own accountancy practice in 2014.  My daughter started at Adel St John in 2012 and is currently in Year 4 and I was elected as a Parent Governor in March 2015.  I am a member of the Teaching and Learning Sub Committee. Outside of school, I like getting out and about with my family and experiencing new things and I love ice skating and reading when I can find the time.  I want to use my skills and experience to support the school in continuing to provide a great environment for our children to learn and develop.

I am currently the Year 6 teacher at Adel St John, although I have taught across Key Stage 2 since I started in 2010. I am also English and MFL Coordinator, based on my language qualifications. I was elected as Staff Governor in 2015 and am on the Teaching and Learning sub-committee where I hope my teaching experience and knowledge of the school will be supportive to the school in achieving its aims. I am very proud to work at such a fantastic school of amazing children and dedicated staff. When I'm not teaching, I spend most of my time in the gym or with my two Westies. I also love to write poetry.

I am the Headteacher at Adel St John the Baptist. I started in 2008 as the Reception teacher and have had experience of working in both Key Stage 1 and KS2 and as the Deputy Headteacher. It is a great privilege to lead such a joyful and caring school; the commitment of the children to their learning and to each other and the staff to the pupils is something that fills me with pride every day. As a Governor I am on the Teaching and Learning, Pupil Support and Resources sub-committee.
Prior to my entering education my background was in art and I have worked in private industry over a number of years in the graphic design field. Away from school I have 2 children currently at high school who keep me very busy; as a family we love walking and when I have the opportunity I still love to paint.
